Our Mission

We are the Sinus Care Foundation, a group dedicated to improving outcomes and quality of life for the millions suffering from chronic and acute sinus disease.

As partners to patients and the global medical community alike, our goals are to encourage scientific research, expand effective treatment options, provide grants for researchers, doctors and other professionals who work with sinus related conditions, and raise awareness overall.

In this way, we are poised to help shape the future treatment and care of sinus disease. Already, the Foundation’s flagship medical practice is internationally recognized as a leader in the diagnosis and treatment of sinus disease—proud testimony to the depth of our commitment.

Our Background

Winston Vaughan, M.D., Karen Fong, M.D., Kathleen Low, R.N., N.P., and advocate Wendy Stokes are the founding partners of the Sinus Care Foundation.  This non-profit organization was established in early 2008 as a means to proactively address the reality that sinus related conditions affect over 45 million people in the United States alone, yet curative treatment remains elusive for the majority of sufferers.  At stake are their health, well-being, productivity, and quality of life. The Foundation was born of a simple question: “What is missing here and how can we start to change that?”

Though our initial step is to support medical research and the education of health professionals, we are focused on the full spectrum of issues which impact the management of sinus related diseases. These issues span increasing pollution, changing patterns of pollination, health care access, public service information and education, patient referrals, related surgical devices, pharmaceuticals, and more.

As a non-profit organization, our work is entirely supported by donations, grants, individual contributions, research fees, and income from related service revenues.

Our board and foundation staff embraces the following guiding principles:
